Allergen Policy

Please tell us about food allergies and dietary restrictions before your order is confirmed. A menu label alone is not enough to establish that a meal is safe for you.

Tell us exactly what you need

Name the ingredient or allergen you must avoid, whether your requirement is an allergy, intolerance or another dietary restriction, and whether cross-contact is a concern. For severe allergies, contact our team or the supplying venue directly as well as completing the form.

An allergy note on a pre-order records your request; it does not guarantee the request can be accommodated. Wait for confirmation of suitability before proceeding, and tell the serving staff again when dining at a restaurant.

Allergens and ingredients

Common allergens include milk, egg, fish, crustaceans, molluscs, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, soy, wheat and lupin. Gluten-containing cereals and added sulphites may also be relevant to your needs. This is not an exhaustive list of substances that can cause a reaction.

Ingredients, sauces, garnishes and supplier products can change. Check the current ingredient and allergen information for the specific meal; do not assume a previous order confirms the suitability of a later one.

Dietary codes on restaurant menus

Codes shown on tour menus come from each venue’s source menu. Their meanings are venue-specific: for example, GF may mean gluten free on one menu and gluten friendly on another. Use the explanation on that particular menu and ask the venue if anything is unclear.

A label such as ‘on request’ means a modification needs to be requested and confirmed; it is not automatically included. Vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free and kosher labels do not establish that a dish is free from all allergens or safe from cross-contact.

Cross-contact and independent venues

Cross-contact can occur through shared preparation areas, utensils, equipment, cooking oil, storage or service. Do not assume a kitchen is allergen-free. Ask about the precautions available for your specific requirement before ordering.

Independent hotels and restaurants prepare the dishes listed on their menus and must confirm ingredients, preparation methods and suitability themselves. Abraham Premium Food’s ordering forms and translations do not certify those venues as allergen-free or kosher.

Receiving and serving meals

Check the meal label and any confirmed instructions before eating. Keep meals for different dietary requirements separate and avoid sharing utensils or adding sauces or accompaniments without checking their ingredients.

If a label, delivered meal or restaurant dish does not match the confirmed requirement, do not eat it until the supplier has clarified its suitability. Follow the storage and reheating instructions supplied with the food.

If a reaction occurs

Follow your clinician’s allergy action plan and use prescribed emergency medication as directed. For a serious or suspected anaphylactic reaction, call 111 in New Zealand or 000 in Australia immediately. Do not wait for a reply from our team.

Once immediate medical needs have been addressed, let us and the supplying venue know the order details so the concern can be investigated.
